About Accreditation.

The Baan Dek Montessori is the first accredited Association Montessori International in the State of South Dakota. What exactly does this mean? ‘An AMI Certificate of Recognition indicates the school upholds the highest standards in Montessori education: standards that are directly aligned with Maria Montessori's original principles and practices.’ Annual consultations are required to remain accredited.

History of Accreditation.

One of the most important things to consider is if the Montessori school that you are interested in is certified and if the teachers are Montessori trained. Anyone can use the Montessori name so it is important to research the qualifications of the school. There are two recognized Montessori associations that can accredit schools, the Association Montessori Internationale and the American Montessori Society.

Purpose of Accreditation.

‘The Association Montessori Internationale school recognition program was started in the United States to assist parents in making choices about Montessori schools and classrooms. It provides credibility to a school’s status within the Montessori and larger educational community and confirms that the school is faithfully putting Dr. Montessori's principles and practices into effect.’
