A second grade public school teacher in Providence, Rhode Island submitted a video resignation to the school board. The video has gone viral.
"I would rather leave my secure, $70,000 job, with benefits, and tutor in Connecticut for free than be part of a system that is diametrically opposed to everything I believe education should be."
The veteran teacher, Stephen Round, describes a school system that he joined, one that was committed to "educating life long learners". He then proceeds to describe how the culture and climate of this system has subsequently changed.
The video is a very candid portrayal of a veteran teacher's thoughts on standardized tests, and how they have effected the public school system, and ultimately, teachers and children.
