The Power of Control of Error

Control of Error, the ability to recognize and then correct your own mistakes, without having an external person let you know if you did the activity “right or wrong”, is a mainstay of the Montessori approach to education.

In this short video, our yet to be three-year-old student engages with the cylinder blocks. Notice how she works with the material, to find the appropriate solution. The material itself offers positive feedback, allowing her the delights of growing her confidence.
