Happy Birthday, Maria Montessori

August 31st is a special day. Maria Montessori would have turned 146. She passed in 1952, but her legacy lives on. Children all over the world are working daily in classrooms just like the one she cobbled together in 1907. Adults are witnessing the same discoveries she made. Generations later, has childhood really changed all that much?

This is a special year for us at Baan Dek, too. A Happy Birthday of sorts.

This is the 10th year of Baan Dek. Every year, we think, this is going to be the best year yet. And, every year, we’re right.

Birthdays are a special time. To reflect on where we’ve been. To dream and imagine what we’d like to do in the next 365 days. For stories and gathering together and sharing this wonderful human experience.

We are really looking forward to our 10th birthday. We’re so lucky to do this work, and we’re so thankful to have you on this journey with us. Love what you do, and you make the world a better place.

Happy Birthday, Maria. Happy Birthday, Baan Dek.
