Spotlight Laura Flores Shaw

We’re really pleased to spotlight Laura Flores Shaw, a self-described, “writer, speaker, gadfly,” who is also a therapist, frequent contributor to the Huffington Post, and former Head of School at Oak Knoll Kinderhaus Montessori. Laura is currently completing her EdD, with a specialization in mind, brain, and teaching, at Johns Hopkins University School of Education. Yes, we know – it’s hard for us to keep up with her passion and inquisitiveness too!

Laura’s latest project is called, The Montessori White Papers, and aims to offer a greater appreciation of Montessori education, within the context of bolstering what it means to learn. With her background and interest in psychology, she is also curious to understand how Montessori relates to society’s concept of “school”. Laura was generous enough to conduct a video interview with Baan Dek. We hope you enjoy! There are some real treasures.
