As many of you know, part of being an accredited Montessori school, is having a consultant visit on a regular basis, and verify that what we are doing is in line with the principles that Maria Montessori herself set forth. This year, we had the great privelage of welcoming Dr. Annette M. Haines, the Director of Training for the Montessori Training Center of St. Louis.
Here's a little bit more about her: "Dr. Haines is an internationally recognised lecturer, examiner, and trainer of the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI). She has been involved in the field of Montessori education since 1972 and has extensive background in the Children’s House classroom.
Dr. Haines holds both AMI Primary and Elementary Diplomas. Additionally, she has a Bachelor of Arts degree in english literature from Washington University, a masters degree in education from Cleveland State University, and a doctorate in education from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville with research focused on concentration and normalisation within the Montessori prepared environment. She is currently Chairperson of the AMI Sponsoring Committee, a member of the AMI Pedagogical Committee and Associate Director of the North American Montessori Teachers Association (NAMTA). Annette’s articles have been published in the AMI Communications, the NAMTA Journal, and Montessori Talks to Parents."
The Baan Dek Montessori is the first and only accredited Association Montessori Internationale in the state of South Dakota.
