Kimberly Dynes
Q: Can you tell us a little bit more about yourself? Your background, your interests, your dreams?
I have a background in interior design (Ken Fulk, Jungalow, Morris & Co, Vincente Wolf are a couple favorites)
I love cooking as a hobby (learning how to perfect roasting and sauces now. Failing at emulsifying!… but trying!)
I enjoy being outdoors (climbing, hiking, walking, sitting around). I think it is extremely important for mental health!
Q: How were you first introduced to Montessori?
Found an interest when Sunny was born. I am very keen to practice minimalism and having just a few intentional
“toys” for my girls (and for myself). That kind of sprung open a pathway to start learning about the whole
montessori lifestyle.
Q: What was it about Montessori that resonated with you?
The minimalist in me! :) A place for everything and everything in it’s place… the freedom and calm that brings to
our lives.
Q: What brought you to Baan Dek?
Looking for a healthy environment of like-minded people.
Q: What is your favorite part of your day at Baan Dek?
Taking pictures in the classroom has been a fun way for me to get to see what the kids are working on and get to
know their personalities and strengths.
Q: What is your favorite life quote?
“Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful” – William Morris
“A good laugh and a long sleep are the two best cures for anything.” – Irish Proverb
“It is a serious thing just to be alive on the fresh morning in the broken world.” – Mary Oliver
“Know Thyself” – Socrates (and kinda Plato)
Q: What are your favorite colors?
Earth tones. :) Especially mossy greens.
Q: How do you like to spend your free time?
Just hanging out with Zach, Sunny and Miriam… Cooking. Eating. Sleeping.
Q: What is your favorite animal and why?
Dogs. They love so well.
Q: What’s a fun fact about your life?
I ran a half marathon once… NEVER AGAIN. But I feel proud of it. :)
