Baan Dek

Nicholas Sullivan

Q: Can you tell us a little bit more about yourself? Your background, your interests, your dreams?

I was born and raised in Puerto Rico, moved to Sioux Falls in July. I have a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. I like swimming, music, video games, outdoor activities, road trips, among other things. I write and I hope to one day be able to publish my books.

Q: How were you first introduced to Montessori?

My mother used to work at a Montessori in Puerto Rico which I attended and then after our move, Carla started working here.

Q: What was it about Montessori that resonated with you?

The chance to do something significant, work on something in which at the end of the day I would feel fulfilled. I really like kids, and not being able to have any myself, this is a very rewarding experience.

Q: What brought you to Baan Dek?

Just how happy Carla seemed to be everyday after work. Having worked here these last couple of weeks, I can see why.

Q: What is your favorite part of your day at Baan Dek?

The playground. I love seeing the kids be themselves. I also love seeing kids work and achieve things they thought would be too hard for them.

Q: What is your favorite life quote?

“A ship is always safe at the shore, but that is not what it was built for.”

Q: What is your favorite color?

Green is my favorite color.

Q: How do you like to spend your free time?

I like writing, reading, watching movies and series, playing video games, etc.

Q: What is your favorite animal and why?

My favorite animal is the sea turtle because they are inspiring. They are born into independence and struggles, racing to the water while surrounded by danger. They are hardy, resourceful and live very long lives.

Q: What’s a fun fact about your life?

I am never not hungry.
